  -Practices and Beliefs concerning Protection and Healing     associated with the Life Cycle

Traditional doctors are not merely concerned with healing diseases of the human body as are their "modern, Western" counterparts. In this section the traditional practices and beliefs concerning protection  and healing during the Life Cycle  events will be outlined.

The Life Cycle events in this section are:

Pregnancy

Botsetsi (women in confinement)

Childhood

Initiation

Engagement

Marriage and Bogadi (bridewealth)

Death

Ancestors (Badimo)

Throughout these sections it will be seen how these practices and beliefs aim to protect and heal.
